“Holy angst, they really amped up the feeling of impending doom with this ep. Even the “I promise to bake you a cake” ending sounds like a flag, this feels like its going to be the last calm before the storm.
The whole sequence of Lara deciding to return back to the human world was great though, the fish dagger giving her a helping wave, and Lara bursting into the tournament which mirrors the boxing scene in ep 3. Lara’s handwriting has improved a lot too.
I wonder what Lisa’s plan for Lara is, can’t be with human but all the eligible bachelor mermaids are kinda half dead. Grace seems pretty unbothered by what’s happening too.”

今回は迫りくる破滅の予感を一気に強めてきたな。
最後の「ケーキを焼くって約束する」という言葉ですらフラグに聞こえるし、嵐の前の最後の静けさみたいに感じる。
とはいえ、ララが人間の世界へ戻る決意をする一連の流れは素晴らしかった。
魚の短剣が波でララを助けて、ララが大会会場へ飛び込んでくるところは第3話のボクシングシーンとも重なっていた。
ララの字もずいぶん上手くなったな。
リサはララをどうするつもりなんだろう。
人間とは一緒になれないとしても、結婚相手になれそうな人魚たちはみんな半分死にかけみたいな状態だし。
グレースも今起きていることをあまり気にしていないように見える。

“Great episode, but with Lara starting to turn into sea foam, I was scared the whole time that she’ll give Mari another trauma by losing consciousness during her boxing match…
Fortunately, that didn’t happen and Mari even won the tournament! I wonder what happens next though, since there are only four episodes left.
It’s clear to see that both Lara and Mari are important to each other, so I really keep my fingers crossed for them to end up together, especially since Luca feels more like a friend to Lara, not a love interest, at least now.
And what will Lisa do now? She got Lara back for a moment, but she lost her again. Will she take a more forceful approach, perhaps?”
素晴らしい回だったけど、ララが海の泡になり始めたから、茉里のボクシングの試合中に意識を失って、また茉里にトラウマを与えるんじゃないかとずっと怖かった。
幸いそんなことにはならなかったし、茉里は大会で優勝までした！
ただ、残りは4話しかないし、この先どうなるんだろう。
ララと茉里がお互いにとって大切な存在なのは明らかだから、最終的に二人が一緒になってくれることを本当に願ってる。
少なくとも今のところ、ルカはララにとって恋愛対象というより友達に見えるしね。
そしてリサはこれからどうするんだ？
一度はララを取り戻したのに、また失ってしまった。
今度はもっと強引な手段に出るのかな？

“LaraMari aside, I just want to point out how suspicious the whole Luca situation from this episode that makes it even more apparent than the last one.
At the beginning, when Lara felt unwell from turning into foam when walking with Mari, and said she “almost tripped”, Mari said “maybe you’re not used to those legs yet”, remember how Luca always tripping, it might not be due to clumsiness at all
Lara only started turning into foam the moment she met and start dating Luca regularly, but the way it happened also sus. Luca went to Mari’s match to find Lara, as if he assume she’d be there surely, he painted Lara despite only had a glimpse of her once, he has the exact same look as the prince, and he’s super pushy about wanting Lara, as if it’s his job, what he’s tasked to do. In this episode, when Lara was talking to Mari outside about wanting to stay, she mentioned everything, and the streetlight flickered but still lit, however the streetlight immediately went out dark the moment she mentioned getting closer to Luca, and then right after, Lara said ofcourse she’s scared. It feels like it’s not just the matter that Lara believes it’s a dead end for her to find true love with Luca, but more so she might actually felt something ominous about that relationship. It’s just very suspicious.”
ララと茉里の関係はひとまず置いておいて、今回のルカをめぐる状況がものすごく怪しいことを指摘したい。
前回よりさらに怪しく見えてきた。
冒頭で、茉里と歩いていたララが泡になりかけて具合を悪くし、「転びそうになった」と言ったとき、茉里は「まだその脚に慣れてないんじゃない？」と言っていた。
でもルカもいつも転んでいるよな。
あれって単なるドジじゃないのかもしれない。
ララが泡になり始めたのも、ルカと出会って頻繁に会うようになってからだ。
それにルカはララを探して茉里の試合へ行ったけど、まるでララが絶対そこにいると分かっていたみたいだった。
一度ちらっと見ただけのララを絵に描いているし、王子とまったく同じ姿をしている。
しかもララを求める姿勢がものすごく積極的で、まるでそれが仕事か、何かの使命として与えられているみたいなんだ。
今回、ララが外で茉里にここへ残りたいという話をしていたとき、いろいろなことを話している間は街灯がちらついても消えなかった。
ところがルカともっと親しくなることに触れた瞬間、街灯が完全に消えた。
そしてその直後、ララはもちろん怖いと言った。
単にララが「ルカとの真実の愛は見つからない」と思っているだけじゃなく、この関係そのものに何か不吉なものを感じているんじゃないかと思えてくる。
とにかく怪しすぎる。

“THIS EPISODE IS SOO PEAK! AAAAAHHHHH
Honestly, that Mari realization when she saw Lara rushing to her fight while she was fighting to not get knocked down reminds me of [Meta Spoiler] Bloom Into You Episode 9, when Yuu watches Touko running. It has the same vibes, maybe because it is a “realization” for both of them.”
今回、最高すぎるだろ！
あああああああ！
正直、茉里が倒されまいと戦っている最中、ララが試合へ駆けつけてくるのを見て何かに気づくあの場面は、［他作品のネタバレ］『やがて君になる』第9話で侑が走る燈子を見る場面を思い出した。
すごく似た雰囲気がある。
たぶん、どちらも「気づき」の瞬間だからなんだろうな。

“Please don’t make “if we can make it through this”-style promises in a show with “Goodbye” or “Dying” in its title, oh my god.
I had the same reaction and was waiting for someone else to mention it! It’s too ominous!”
タイトルに「さよなら」とか「死」を連想させる言葉が入っている作品で、「これを乗り越えられたら」みたいな約束をするのはやめてくれ。
頼むから。
俺もまったく同じ反応だったし、誰かが言ってくれるのを待ってた！
不吉すぎるよ！

“I was sure they were building up to Mari losing the match because Lara would collapse, but I’m so so happy it ended up so beautifully showing Lara being the force driving Mari forward once again.
I can’t stop gushing about this ep”
ララが倒れて、そのせいで茉里が試合に負ける展開へ持っていっているんだと確信してた。
でも最終的には、ララが再び茉里を前へ進ませる力になっていることを、あんなに美しく描いてくれて本当に本当に嬉しい。
この回についていくらでも語れそうだ。

“Comparing her in this episode to her in ep 1-3 where she was just a fish out of the water. She seem so much more mature and compose it’s a shock tbh. And also last scene with laramari I love how they act like a real couple now you can see the love in every word they said and every act they do it’s adorable.”
第1話から第3話の、文字通り陸に上がった魚みたいだったララと今回のララを比べてみてほしい。
ものすごく大人になって落ち着いていて、正直驚くレベルだ。
それから最後のララと茉里のシーンも大好き。
今では本物のカップルみたいに振る舞っていて、二人が口にする一言一言や仕草の全部から愛情が見える。 可愛すぎる。

So yeah, quite the episode. Despite how heavily Luca was involved in bringing Lara back, Lara’s light only shone when she was thinking about being separated from Mari. On top of that, so far the Fish of Damocles has only responded to Lara’s thoughts about Mari, not anything involving Luca. I’d say the yuri route is safe and sound at this point… *hopefully* .”

まあ、そんな感じでとんでもない回だった。
ララを戻すためにルカがかなり関わっていたにもかかわらず、ララの光が輝いたのは茉里と離れることを考えたときだけだった。
それに今のところ、あの「ダモクレスの魚」は茉里に関するララの思いにしか反応していなくて、ルカに関係することには反応していない。
現時点では百合ルートは安泰と言っていいんじゃないかな……たぶん。

お前ら、ララ×茉里がメニューに戻ってきたぞ！

“I love how this show keeps layering the intrigue while the stakes raise at the right pace. There are still any number of ways this can go (including several Lara, Lisa, or the Witch all fuck up the world scenarios).
And even after all this, all Lara wants to do is make cake and Mari just wants to punch people really hard.”
危機がちょうどいいペースで大きくなっていく一方で、謎もどんどん積み重ねていくこの作品が大好きだ。
まだいくらでも展開の可能性がある。
ララやリサや魔女が世界をめちゃくちゃにするパターンだっていくつも考えられる。
それなのに、これだけのことが起きたあとでもララがやりたいのはケーキを作ることだけで、茉里がやりたいのは人を思いっきり殴ることだけなんだよな。

余談だけど、ルカから逃げるのってめちゃくちゃ簡単だな。
あいつが転ぶのを待って、その隙に全力で逃げればいい。
そして空に浮かぶ巨大な魚の短剣さん、ナイスアシストありがとう。
今日は誰も食べなかったことにも感謝だ。

“I got a really bad feeling from that promise at the end. That’s the kind of thing you say when you want to jinx your chances of a happy ending! Mari, make her watch more movies so she recognizes the trope!
Loved the episode. Lara keeps growing and facing her trauma and fears, episode by episode. This time by facing her sister and affirming to her that she wants to keep living on the surface world, and that she’ll keep trying even if her goal seems impossible. You go, Lara.
It’s interesting though that Lisa told her that princesses kept the light going through their love for their world. So, it definitely doesn’t have to be romantic love at all, and I really, really want to know why Grace is **so** adamant that Lara find love with a human.
Really glad to see Mari show more emotion as well. She’s always been guarded so it was nice to see her let loose, get angry, or even cry. And a flashback to her mom! With a very not subtle allusion to Lara in her hopes for Mari’s future.
Now, Lara’s safe(r) for a while but she’s still going to have to find her true love, and I can’t wait to see how. Also, for her to realize that Luca may be a cinnamon roll and all, but him exuding warmth doesn’t mean that he’s her true love. Because she was still turning into foam (although you could argue that it was because she was still afraid, it’s true)
Also, thank you Lara’s ICBM/Fish of Damocles/Cod from God, MVP of the episode for hurrying things along with that wave.”
最後の約束、ものすごく嫌な予感がした。
ああいうのって、ハッピーエンドになる可能性を自分から呪いたいときに言うセリフだろ！
茉里、もっとララに映画を見せて、この手のお約束を覚えさせてくれ！
今回も大好きだった。
ララは毎話少しずつ成長して、自分のトラウマや恐怖と向き合っている。
今回は姉と向き合い、地上の世界で生き続けたいこと、たとえ目標が不可能に見えても挑戦を続けることをはっきり伝えた。
頑張れ、ララ。
それに、リサが「歴代の姫たちは自分たちの世界への愛によって光を保っていた」と話したのも興味深い。
つまり、それは必ずしも恋愛としての愛である必要はない。
だからこそ、どうしてグレースがララに人間との愛を見つけさせることにあれほど固執しているのか、本当に知りたい。
茉里がいつも以上に感情を見せてくれたのも嬉しかった。
普段は自分を抑えているから、感情を爆発させたり、怒ったり、泣いたりする姿が見られてよかった。
そしてお母さんの回想まで！
茉里の未来への願いの中に、かなり分かりやすくララを連想させるものがあった。
ひとまずララは少し安全になったけど、まだ「真実の愛」を見つけなければならない。
どうやって見つけるのか楽しみで仕方ない。
それからルカがどれだけ優しくていい奴でも、彼から温かさを感じることと、彼が真実の愛の相手であることは同じじゃないとララが気づくところも見たい。
実際、ララはまだ泡になっていたからね。
まあ、それはまだ恐怖を抱えていたからだという解釈もできるけど。
そしてララの※ICBM、ダモクレスの魚、神から遣わされたタラよ、ありがとう。
あの波で話を一気に進めてくれた今回のMVPだ。

※ICBMとは、有効射程が5,500キロメートル以上ある大陸間弾道ミサイルの事です。

“Oh god. This episode legit made me in tears, it’s so beautiful.
And what the heck, the drama composition builds up with absolute zero waste of time, sails it smoothly, and actually resolves within the episode itself!? Other anime would take at least 2 episodes with it!
I can be at least assured that they went through the original The Little Mermaid plot line of “needing to sacrifice something so that she can return back to mermaid and save her kindgom, and will be sparred from becoming dissolving into foam” is pretty much done. Lara still persists and choose to live her life at the ground. yet ultimately the question still remains what her “True Love” actually is, and hoping the rest of 4, 5 episodes will provide that answer.

うわあ。
今回、本気で泣いた。
美しすぎる。
それに何なんだこのドラマ構成。
一切時間を無駄にせず盛り上げて、滑らかに進めて、しかもその問題を同じエピソード内でちゃんと決着させるのか！？
他のアニメなら最低でも2話は使うぞ！
少なくとも『人魚姫』の原典にある「何かを犠牲にして人魚へ戻り、王国を救い、泡になる運命から逃れる」という筋書きについては、ほぼ乗り越えたと考えてよさそうだ。
それでもララは地上で生きることを選んだ。
ただ結局、「真実の愛」とは一体何なのかという疑問は残っている。
残りの4話か5話で、その答えを見せてほしい。

それと茉里、お前はリュウか何かなのか？

“Though, it is kind of funny that the ship started to “sink” once Lara started to see Mari. Which is obviously not meant this way. Unless you see the boat as the ship between Lara and the ocean. That one is sunk.”
とはいえ、ララが茉里に会いに行こうとした途端に「船」が沈み始めたのはちょっと面白い。
もちろん、そういう意味で描いたわけじゃないだろうけど。
あの船を「ララと海との関係」という意味での船だと考えるなら話は別だ。
その船なら完全に沈んだな。

深い考察系

“Ok so given the reveal by Lisa that apparently all the previous special princesses provided light to the merfolk based on their love for their underwater home I think that adds a lot of support to the theory that myself and several others had early on, that Lara’s “True Love” will be the surface world and all the people she formed connections with. I think this episode further supported this by having Lara’s “heart glow” centered more around her choosing to stay in the surface world and find love there. Simultaneously, I think this episode also further confirmed that Lara and Mari are the endgame. I just don’t think that their relationship specifically will be the “true love”.”
リサの話で、これまでの特別な姫たちは海の故郷への愛によって人魚たちに光を与えていたらしいことが分かった。
これは、自分や他の何人かが序盤から考えていた「ララの真実の愛とは、地上の世界そのものと、そこで築いたすべての人との繋がりなのではないか」という説をかなり後押ししていると思う。
今回、ララの「心の光」が強く輝いたのも、地上の世界に残り、そこで愛を見つけることを選んだ場面だった。
同時に、ララと茉里が最終的に結ばれるということも、今回さらに強く示されたと思う。
ただ、二人の関係そのものが「真実の愛」という答えになるわけではないんじゃないかな。

“At the beginning I was kind of wondering why Lara would even turn into foam. Because from the sister we learned that they can keep on living by using the light (even if it is a bad copy). So you’d assume that Lara wouldn’t be affected. But since she has to truly awaken this light, it makes sense.
Which is kind of interesting because it opens up two points. One, if Lara finds true love, she can live on th surface for as long as she wants (at least as long as the love exists I guess). And two, that she isn’t actually loving Luca. Even if she feels a warmth from him, it is obviously not “activating” her light energy to keep her alive.
I guess the second one was something that most already expected considering the relationship with Mari is the more logical ending now, but interesting that there are these details still.”
最初は、そもそもなぜララが泡になるのか少し疑問だった。
姉の話では、たとえ劣化した複製でも光を使えば生き続けられると分かったから、ララには影響がないと思っていたんだ。
でもララ自身が本当の意味でその光を目覚めさせなければならないのなら納得できる。
そして面白いのは、ここから二つのことが考えられる点だ。
一つ目は、ララが真実の愛を見つければ、好きなだけ地上で生きられるということ。
少なくとも、その愛が存在し続ける限りは。
二つ目は、ララは実際にはルカを愛していないということ。
ルカから温かさを感じていたとしても、それはララを生かす光のエネルギーを明らかに「起動」させていない。
二つ目については、今となっては茉里との関係がより自然な結末に見えるから、ほとんどの人が予想していたことだと思う。
それでも、こういう細かな描写が入っているのは面白い。

“The path to true love is a fraught one when forced to navigate through what it means to be friends, what it means to fulfill your families’ expectations, your expectations of yourself, and trying to realize what love really is.
Lara is comfortable and enjoying the time with Luca…but is that enough? Especially when it seems like her body is giving out on her and she’s slowly dripping into sea foam!?
Mari is really on that battle Shonen grindset just looking for tougher and tougher opponents to fight, including her fiercest rival at the tournament.
Well, this is probably the nicer way of greeting Mari compared to Lisa’s original plan, even if it’s to be curt and direct that she wants Lara back…and Lara will need her as she’s returning to seafoam. Now THAT is something Mari can’t ignore.
Lara can act like she’s fine, act like she can keep living her the life the way she is, keep going like normal…but she’s clearly not 100% and the fear that she won’t achieve anything and never find True Love is terrifying her. But all Mari wants is for Lara to be okay, even if that means sending her back to her sister.
Mari is throwing herself into boxing, Lara is with Lisa, Grace and Lisa hate each others’ guts, and Luca…has no idea what’s going on, poor dude.
Seems like Lisa intends for Lara’s “true love” to be the ocean, as befitting a mermaid…but it’s not that simple for Lara. It’s never been.
Thank you kindly old man for letting Lara call Luca and letting her realize Mari is on her final match and her head isn’t 100% in the game because she gave Lara up! And seeing Mari helped Lara realize that her true path to that bright, shiny, feeling is being with Mari and humanity! Take her home giant fish dagger!
Lara arrived JUST in time for Mari to win! And both girls are back together! Hopefully for the foreseeable future! Hopefully.”

家族の期待に応えるとは何なのか。
自分自身の期待とは何なのか。
そして愛とは本当は何なのか。
それらすべてを乗り越えなければならないのなら、真実の愛へ至る道は本当に険しい。
ララはルカと一緒にいて心地よく、楽しい時間を過ごしている。
でも、それだけで十分なのか？
しかも身体は限界に近づき、少しずつ海の泡へ変わり始めている！
一方の茉里は完全にバトル少年漫画の主人公みたいな精神で、大会最大のライバルを含め、より強い相手を求めて戦っている。
リサが最初に考えていた方法に比べれば、茉里への挨拶としてはまだ穏やかな方だったのかもしれない。
ララを連れ戻したいとはっきり伝えただけだから。
そしてララが再び海の泡になりつつある以上、リサの助けが必要になる。
それはさすがに茉里も無視できない。
ララは平気なふりをして、このまま普通に暮らせるふりをして、何事もないように生き続けようとすることはできる。
でも明らかに万全じゃない。
何も成し遂げられず、真実の愛も見つけられないかもしれないという恐怖に怯えている。
それでも茉里が望んでいるのは、ただララが無事でいることだけだ。
そのためなら姉の元へ帰すことになっても構わない。
茉里はボクシングに打ち込み、ララはリサと一緒にいて、グレースとリサはお互いを心底嫌っている。
そしてルカは……何が起きているのか何も知らない。
かわいそうな奴だ。
リサは人魚であるララにふさわしく、「真実の愛」を海への愛にしようとしているように見える。
でもララにとっては、そんな単純な話じゃない。
最初からずっとそうだった。
ララにルカへ電話させてくれた親切なおじいさん、ありがとう。
そのおかげでララは、茉里が決勝戦を戦っていて、自分を手放したことで試合に集中できていないことを知った！
そして茉里の姿を見たことで、ララは自分をあの明るく輝く感覚へ導く本当の道が、茉里や人間たちと共にいることだと気づいたんだ！
巨大な魚の短剣よ、ララを連れて帰ってくれ！
ララは茉里が勝つのに本当にギリギリ間に合った！
そして二人はまた一緒になった！
今度こそ、しばらく一緒にいられますように！

“Luca seems more and more like a red herring given that Lara’s heart (the fish dagger) never seems to react to him.
It looks like Lisa really wants Lara’s true love to be for her family and the merfolk. That’s not something you can force on someone though so I don’t really know what her plan is going forward.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the show ends with Lara realizing her “true love” is the surface world along with all the people and experiences she had in it with maybe a possible hint of romance with Mari.”
ララの心である魚の短剣がルカにはまったく反応しないことを考えると、ルカはますますミスリード役に見えてくる。
リサはララの真実の愛を、家族や人魚たちへの愛にしたいように見える。
でも、そんなものは誰かに強制できることじゃない。
だからこの先リサがどうするつもりなのかは分からない。
最終的にララが、地上の世界と、そこで出会ったすべての人々や経験こそ自分の「真実の愛」だったと気づく結末になっても驚かない。
そこに茉里との恋愛を匂わせるものが加わるのかもしれない。

“I still can’t believe some people thought last week that Luca was the endgame. Like, I like Luca, but he’s clearly there to support Lara. I think no matter what Lara decides on, this dude will be there for her.
And we finally got to see how Lara and Mari got that photo at the very start of the series. I am curious where they’ll go from here tho. Mari finally overcame her fear, but I don’t think she has realized what true love really is.”
先週の時点でルカが最終的な相手だと思っていた人がいたことが、いまだに信じられない。
いや、俺もルカは好きだよ。
でも彼は明らかにララを支えるためにいるキャラクターだ。
ララがどんな決断をしても、こいつはきっとララの味方でいてくれると思う。
それから、シリーズ冒頭に出てきたララと茉里の写真がどうやって撮られたのかも、ついに分かった。
ここから二人がどう進んでいくのか気になるな。
茉里はようやく自分の恐怖を乗り越えたけど、真実の愛が本当は何なのかについては、まだ気づいていないと思う。

“Damn, I really wonder if Grace really doesn’t give a damn whether Lara progresses or fails. It’s also interesting how Lara managed to use her “heart” not for destruction this time.”
うーん、グレースはララが前へ進もうが失敗しようが、本当にどうでもいいと思っているんだろうか。
それと今回は、ララが自分の「心」を破壊のためではなく使うことができたのも面白い。

“A lot of people may find this episode slow, but this was my favourite episode so far. Letting some scenes breathe, lack of music, make the scenery do the talking, the cinematography, call backs from older episodes to add depth and make the connections, of course emotional scenes back to back, usage of boxing match to release those emotions. Ah start to blaber but I love this anime :D”
今回を展開が遅いと感じる人も多いかもしれないけど、俺にとっては今までで一番好きな回だった。
シーンにしっかり間を持たせること。
あえて音楽を使わないこと。
風景そのものに語らせること。
映像の撮り方。
過去のエピソードを振り返る描写によって物語に深みを加え、それぞれを繋げること。
そしてもちろん、感情的な場面を次々に重ね、その感情を解放する場所としてボクシングの試合を使ったこと。
ああ、語りすぎてきた。
でもこのアニメ大好きなんだ 😀

“The night is darkest before the dawn indeed, after the last episode we got hit with a yuri nuke in this one. I had been saying for a while that the best way to get Mari re-involved with Lara is to make her worry about Lara and that’s pretty much exactly what happened. I was so happy and excited the entire episode, once Luca started the video call I started literally leaning over my seat. That shit never happens, man.
I’ve seen some people critique the show for not selling the audience on LaraMari very much, and while I don’t agree, I still see their point. Hopefully now that we’ve had a proper relationship-building moment between them in this episode, people start seeing it a bit more. Especially with Mari’s mom literally saying she doesn’t want her to be alone.
The ending of this episode is *way* more ominous than the previous episode’s ending though. Please don’t make “if we can make it through this”-style promises in a show with “Goodbye” or “Dying” in its title, oh my god. It’s even worse now that we know the flash-forward in the show’s first episode was to this one, so the future is even more uncertain.”

前回のあとに、今回は百合爆弾を食らった。
茉里を再びララの物語へ深く関わらせる一番いい方法は、ララのことを心配させることだとずっと言っていたけど、ほとんどその通りになった。
今回は最初から最後まで嬉しくて興奮しっぱなしだった。
ルカがビデオ通話を始めた瞬間、本当に座席から身を乗り出してしまった。
そんなこと普段は絶対にない。
この作品はララと茉里の関係を視聴者に十分納得させられていない、という批判も見かけた。
俺自身はそう思わないけど、言いたいことは分かる。
今回、二人の関係をきちんと積み上げる場面が描かれたことで、そういう人たちにも少しずつ伝わってくれるといいな。
特に茉里のお母さんが、茉里を一人にしたくないとはっきり言っていたし。
ただ、今回のラストは前回のラストよりはるかに不吉だ。
タイトルに「さよなら」や「死」を連想させる言葉が入っている作品で、「これを乗り越えられたら」みたいな約束をするのは本当にやめてくれ。
しかも第1話で描かれた未来の場面が今回だったと分かったことで、この先の未来はさらに分からなくなってしまった。

感動・共感系

“The cinematography of them at the end sitting in the balcony looks very simple but feels a little bit romantic. I like how they frame that.”
最後に二人がベランダに座っている場面の映像は、とてもシンプルに見えるのに、どこかロマンチックに感じる。
あの構図の作り方が好きだ。

この作品に完全に夢中だ。
毎週、日曜日が来るのを待っている自分がいる。
どのエピソードも本当によくできていて、ここまで自分を夢中にさせてくれたアニメはしばらく見ていなかった。
あとは最後をしっかり決めてくれれば、間違いなく自分の歴代お気に入り作品の一つになる。

今回は百合に満ちた瞬間が本当に多かった。

でも今週がこんなに幸せな雰囲気で終わったということは、この先もっと大きなドラマが待っている気もする。

ここからどう進んでいくのかは正直まだ謎だ。

あらゆる意味で、ただただ美しかった。

今のところ今回が一番いいエピソードだったと思う。
第1話に出てきた写真がどうやって撮られたのか、ついに見られたのもよかった。
残り4話。
本当に最後まできれいに着地してほしい。
ルカが最終的な相手に見える一方で、空の巨大な魚の短剣がララの茉里への思いにしか反応しないのも興味深い。

海外の反応、いかがでしたか？
今回はララに残された時間への不安と、決勝戦へ挑む茉里の感情が重なり合い、海外でも非常に高い評価を集めていました。
特に多かったのは、「真実の愛」とは特定の誰かへの恋愛感情だけを意味するのか、それとも家族や故郷、地上で出会った人々や経験まで含む、もっと大きなものなのではないかという考察です。

“Ok so given the reveal by Lisa that apparently all the previous special princesses provided light to the merfolk based on their love for their underwater home I think that adds a lot of support to the theory that myself and several others had early on, that Lara’s “True Love” will be the surface world and all the people she formed connections with. I think this episode further supported this by having Lara’s “heart glow” centered more around her choosing to stay in the surface world and find love there. Simultaneously, I think this episode also further confirmed that Lara and Mari are the endgame. I just don’t think that their relationship specifically will be the “true love”.”
リサの話で、これまでの特別な姫たちは海の故郷への愛によって人魚たちに光を与えていたらしいことが分かった。
これは、自分や他の何人かが序盤から考えていた「ララの真実の愛とは、地上の世界そのものと、そこで築いたすべての人との繋がりなのではないか」という説をかなり後押ししていると思う。
今回、ララの「心の光」が強く輝いたのも、地上の世界に残り、そこで愛を見つけることを選んだ場面だった。
同時に、ララと茉里が最終的に結ばれるということも、今回さらに強く示されたと思う。
ただ、二人の関係そのものが「真実の愛」という答えになるわけではないんじゃないかな。

このコメントが問いかけているのは、「真実の愛」をたった一人の恋愛対象へ向けられる感情として考える必要があるのか、という問題です。
このテーマと深く結びつく思想家が、社会心理学者・思想家のエーリッヒ・フロムです。
フロムは『愛するということ』において、愛を単に「理想の相手を見つけたとき自然に発生する感情」としては考えませんでした。
彼にとって愛とは、他者を気づかい、責任を持ち、尊重し、理解しようとする能動的な営みです。
つまり「誰を愛するか」だけではなく、「自分がどのように愛する存在になるのか」が重要になります。
第8話で示された歴代の姫たちの光も、恋愛だけを愛の唯一の形とする考え方を揺さぶります。

そして自分が生きたいと思った世界や、そこで経験した日々を愛すること。

“Luca seems more and more like a red herring given that Lara’s heart (the fish dagger) never seems to react to him.
It looks like Lisa really wants Lara’s true love to be for her family and the merfolk. That’s not something you can force on someone though so I don’t really know what her plan is going forward.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the show ends with Lara realizing her “true love” is the surface world along with all the people and experiences she had in it with maybe a possible hint of romance with Mari.”

そこに茉里との恋愛を匂わせるものが加わるのかもしれない。

このコメントの「愛は誰かに強制できるものではない」という指摘は、フランスの哲学者シモーヌ・ド・ボーヴォワールが論じた自由と他者の問題から考えることができます。
ボーヴォワールは、人間をあらかじめ決められた役割だけで完成する存在とは考えず、自らの選択によって生き方を作っていく自由な主体として捉えました。

But all Mari wants is for Lara to be okay, even if that means sending her back to her sister.”
ララは平気なふりをして、このまま普通に暮らせるふりをして、何事もないように生き続けようとすることはできる。
でも明らかに万全じゃない。
何も成し遂げられず、真実の愛も見つけられないかもしれないという恐怖に怯えている。
それでも茉里が望んでいるのは、ただララが無事でいることだけだ。
そのためなら姉の元へ帰すことになっても構わない。

この茉里の選択を考えるうえで興味深いのが、アイルランド出身の哲学者・小説家アイリス・マードックが重視した「注意（attention）」という考え方です。
マードックは、人間はしばしば自分の欲望や空想を通して他者を見てしまうと考えました。
自分にとって都合のいい相手。
自分を幸せにしてくれる相手。
自分のそばにいてほしい相手。
そうした自己中心的な像をいったん退け、目の前にいる他者を「自分とは別の現実を持った存在」として注意深く見ることが、道徳的な愛へ近づくために重要になります。
今回の茉里にとって、ララと一緒にいたいという自分自身の気持ちだけを優先するなら、ララを引き止めることもできたはずです。
しかし茉里が優先したのは、自分の願いよりもララが無事に生きられることでした。
だからこそ、必要ならララをリサの元へ返そうとします。
そこにあるのは「好きだから自分のそばに置く」という所有ではなく、「好きだから相手にとって必要なものを見る」という愛です。
そして物語が印象的なのは、手放そうとした茉里のもとへ、今度はララ自身の意思によってララが戻ってくることです。
相手を縛らなかったからこそ、二人は「一緒にいることを選び直す」ことができました。
この関係性は、愛とは相手を自分の願望の中へ閉じ込めることではなく、相手の現実そのものを見ることなのだというマードックの思想から読み解くことができます。

まとめと感想

『さよならララ』第8話「決勝戦の夜」は、ララと茉里がそれぞれ別の場所で恐怖と向き合いながら、最後には自分自身の意思で再び相手へ向かっていく姿が印象的なエピソードでした。
海外の反応では、ララが泡になっていく描写への不安から、茉里の決勝戦、ララが会場へ駆けつける展開まで、非常に大きな盛り上がりを見せています。
一方で特に興味深かったのが、「真実の愛」の正体についての考察です。
それはルカなのか。
茉里なのか。
家族や人魚たちなのか。
それとも、ララが地上で出会った人々、経験、そして自ら選んだ世界そのものなのか。
第8話では「愛」という言葉の意味が、一人の恋愛相手を探す物語から、どの世界で誰とどのように生きたいのかという、より大きな問いへ広がったようにも感じられます。
また、ララを大切に思うからこそ手放そうとした茉里と、それでも自ら茉里のもとへ戻ったララの姿も印象的でした。
二人が一緒にいるという結果以上に、「自分で選んで相手のもとへ行く」という過程そのものが重要だったのではないでしょうか。
そして海外ファンが何度も指摘していたように、穏やかで幸せなラストだからこそ、その先に待っているものへの不安も残ります。
ララにとっての「真実の愛」が何なのか。
残された物語でどのような答えが示されるのか、今後も目が離せません。
